India is a land rich with art and culture. Whether it’s art or music, the country has an abundance of these treasures. But sadly, some of them are on the verge of being forgotten. The Legacy Project is a venture by Seagram’s 100 Pipers to bring them back into the spotlight. It provides a platform to artists to showcase their work to the world.
For the 2022 – 2023 initiative, we are focusing on Indian Folk Music. Each piece that is adorned on the Seagram’s 100 Pipers packaging is inspired by a folk music form and brought to life by an art form of that region. These are new pieces of work that have been created for the sole purpose of this project. Each piece is a reflection of the artist’s version of what goodness means to them.

Title : Triumph of Green
A folk song is the inspiration for this artwork. The song is about our planet and how we are connected to mother nature. It tells us that only way to thrive on Earth is by planting more trees.

Title : Dream Team
A popular folk song, part of the panchantantra tales, is brought alive here. The song delves into the concept of unity in order to excel. Only when we do things together do we come out on top. In this song, a flock of birds work together to escape a hunter’s net.

Title : Showers of Blessings
This is a folk song about one of the most important things for humanity to survive – water. The song tells us that when the heavens open up to shower rain upon us, we should not let it go to waste but collect it, for one day it will come to great use. It tells us the importance of water harvesting.

Title : Open Invitation
This piece is inspired by a folk song that talks about equality in society. The lyrics talk about an ant marriage where all animals are invited, irrespective of their status. The artwork shows a bridal procession where the animals are on their way to the marriage, playing instruments of that folk music form.

TITLE : MORE POWER TO YOU
Derived from a folk song, this piece talks about women empowerment and the need for equal status for both women and men. It details the life of a married woman who breaks barriers and becomes a successful ruler/zamindar, making a name for herself. All of which is beautifully captured in the artwork.

The inspiration behind this artwork is from a folk song that stresses on the importance of all creatures of the Earth living in harmony. It shows how mother-nature gives equally to all and makes everyone prosper when they live in peace and harmony together
